http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=385646 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=384431 search feature... just keep trying different terms. hammer form, buck, dolly, metal finish, etc.
It's an Australian expression. It means making in metal what would have been a wooden inner structure in a car. Usually with box tube. You might try ozrodders, they discuss it a lot.
Replacing the wood with metal has be cussed and discussed on here. Thanks for thr info, if I ever get down under I'll know one more expression.
thanks for the links... yep. another unique aussie expression! goes in with bonnet, boot and mudgaurd and bog!
At first I thought you were looking for links to hammer out a one off body shell out of steel. I've seen a lot of articles over the past 50 years about replacing the wood with steel but can't put my hands on one at the moment.
Hey, There is a book that I've seen on choppin tops that's printed in OZ by Graffiti Publications. In that book they cover "steeling out "several bodies that were chopped in Oz. Swanky Devils C.C. " Humpty Dumpty was pushed!"
What are you building? I've finished steeling out my 28 Roadster and have heaps of pis if they're any help.
