Technical Steering Box 54 Chevy

Hi,

i am confused about my steering box in my 54 chevy. I want to rebuild it, and ordered a rebuild kit at ecklers:

this one is with balls.
I was reading the manual of the 53 chevy (should work for 54 too)

but i couldn´t find where to put the balls in
then i found a manual for the 55 chevy, and there is the steering box shown with the balls

Does anyone know what kind of steering box is in my 54 chevy?

I'm guessing that the kit above is probably not the correct one. I did mine many years ago and there were needle bearing in the kit.

post a picture of the steering box that's in your 54, and maybe we can tell you what you have?

 

Buy a shop manual. The OH procedure is detailed therein.
