Technical Steering Box F1 to f4

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by johnrfray, Nov 3, 2019.

  1. Is the steering column on a f1 the same as f2 - f5 etc, The 48 has a f1 drag link is 2 different sizes , on one side takes a small ball and a larger ball end on the other end ,the two welded together, that I don't have a problem with its the pitman arm was cut and made shorter , that scares the hell out of me. I wold like to replace everything with the f1 set up. The box in it now is from a bigger truck,so if I get the right box is the steering column still going to fit. ??

I pulled a box out of an F3 I think it was and the box looks the same as the F1 but is larger. I think the column cover on the inside of the truck was 1 3/4". Which was the same as my F1 box.

F1 to F3 are the same. F4 and up are larger boxes.
