Have very nice 40 ford steering box and column. The stock steering box in my 34 is a little sticky in several place as you turn the wheel. Can the 40 box be swapped on to the 34 column or can the complete 40 box and column swapped in after I remove the column shift? Will the 40 box bolt to the 34 frame. Would I be better off w a 53-56 F100 box? Thanks

The 40 box is a cross-steer box, so the short answer is no, they don't interchange. I'd be looking for a 48-52 F1 box if I were you. The 53-56 F100 is also a good choice, but it's a bit bulkier and the pitman arm has a tapered hole instead of a ball stud. Either way, you'll have to trim and redrill the mounting flange a bit.
