It has been so long I don't remember what this came out of...

Any help? I know somebody on here will know what this is at first glance but I don't any more. It says Gemmer on it if that is a help the ID on it says 34857 but again that could just be a casting number.

I want to order a rebuild kit, track down a pitman arm etc... for it if anybody knows where they have them... but I suppose the first step is finding out what it is!

'48-'52 F-1, all F-1 had Gemmer boxes and all F-1 Gemmer boxes had threaded sector shafts.
F-100s had notched sector shafts, and pitman arms were secured with a pinch bolt.

Mac's has them. You can also use p*** arms if you file out the blocker splines.

Just to add a bit more info. 53-56 F-100 has the pinch bolt and a ball stud on the end of the pitman arm where the drag link connects. 57-60 F-100 has the same box but the pitman arm has a tapered hole for a tie rod end on the drag link. Whole lot easier to find the 57-60 trucks in a junkyard than 53-56 now days.

Correct. Here is my 56 box with a 57 steering arm, to get the tapered tie rod end.

From what I can remember, aren't the mounting flanges on the F1 box smaller than the flanges on the f100 box ?
