I had to relocate the steering box on my A, and thought I would ask before I remount it.

I have a 39 Merc. cross steer boxwith the steering arm that is angled up.

What is the correct way to mount it?

With the arm parrallel to the floor or the shaft perpendicular with the floor, Which would make the ends of the arm parrallel and the arm itself going upwards. I guess I should get pics of this I will do so im a couple of minuites

I always worry more about the angle of the steering column!

Stock mounting is with box slanted, putting the arm roughly parallel to the world. Shaft perpendicular to world would have put the wheel under the seat in the Merc...

The tie rod bar and the drag link bar should be parrallel to each other and on the same level. You may bend the pitman arm on your steering box in the same fashion as steering arms are heated and bent on Ford spindles to clear wish bones, etc... Try not to have the pitman arm facing on an angle, downwards, as if it would dig into the road if you hit a bump...Hope this helps....
