COE Steering box

Discussion in 'Off Topic Hot Rods & Customs' started by vet57air, Aug 31, 2012.

  1. I just got back from a 4000 mile trip with my truck and had a little issue with my steering box. It has some slop in the wheel so you have to keep compensating to drive straight. I tried to adjust the screw on top and that would be good for awhile , but then it would be like steering through a spring again. I tried that several times. It is a 1984 GM motorhome ch***is (not front wheel drive) P30? Is it just time for a rebuilt one or am I missing something? is there something better?

Jeez that ****s? hope it doesnt have anything to do with your hydro-boost?? How was Pleasanton ?

  3. You never know. I pulled the box out today and will send it out for rebuild.
Pleasanton was great. Saw my friend Howdy Leadbetter with his Western Flyer. Google images Howdy Leadbetter Western Flyer. Another cool COE there was Marlause Klein's 54 chevy car hauler. It threw me at first as it is a 54 cab with earlier dash (pre 54) and an earlier grill.

Russ, has anyone got any pics of the inside of the Flyer. Seems to me there are lots of pics of the outside, but I have never seen the inside.

  5. Sorry I don't have any myself. Howdy has just recently finished the interior. It is done in soft upholstery as that is what he does for a living. He said he would like to sell it and build another.
