Hey guys. Thought Id pick everyones brains a bit. We fabed a 1953 pontiac steering colmn into his 48 pontiac. The harness we used is a 12 circut mr roadster harness. The problem im having is there are only wires coming out of the steering colmn. No plug on the end of them. the harness comes with 2 different gm steering colmn plugs,Which I cant use. Ive got the blinkers and all other lights working, But I dont Know where to tie the wire coming from the brake light switch into the system to make them work. Any ideas would be helpfull.

  2. If you can find an old Motor's Manual that covers '53 Pontiac, it probably has a wiring diagram that identifies the color coding of the wires from the turn signal switch. It should have 6 wires from the t/s switch: Feed from t/s flasher, feed from brake light switch, and power out to LR stop and turn, RR stop and turn, RF turn signal and dash indicator, and LF turn signal and L dash indicator. Sort out which wire is which on the column, get a 6 terminal barrier strip from Radio Shack, put ring terminals on the wires from the column and on the wires from the harness, and hook it up using the barrier strip.

Most of those aftermarket wiring harnesses are color coded standard GM colors which makes things a bit easier to figure out.
