Hot Rods Steering column for 42-28 Ford

I have a 46 coupe without and steering column, and would like to install a after market one but not sure of the length of it. What you you guys have in your 42-48 Fords, and are there any problems with it. I only want to do this once.

 

I used a tilt column out of a mid 80s g.m. Car. This one is from a Cadillac but there all about the same.
Also used the power steering box with an adaptor plate from speedway.
It all came together nice,I kept the original axle and spread the wish bones
