What have you used for a power steering gear? I have a 85 C-30 dually ch***sis and the steering gear needs to be straight up and foreward. I see some guys use a gm van gear? What do you have to have besides the gear unit? Any pictures of the swap?
i used a rack and pinion out of late model 2005 chev truck three borgeson joints used i will try to post pictures ,lots of leg room
I reversed a 78-79 f-350 4x4 steering box by swapping the spool ***embly from an 80-86 2wd f150 in it (very easy swap). The output splines are the same and the extra length of the sector shaft put the input of the steering box nearly directly in line with my column and I was able to join the 2 with only one borgeson u joint.
It is possable to use the standard powersteering box when using a Dually as a donor. It does however require you to use 3 x Borgeson steering joints, some double D shaft and a short 8" Flaming River tilt column. This is what I have done on my COE There are some pics of this setup on my webshots page.
