have a freind that bought an unfinished race car and he came to me for help finishing it.first thing i noticed was that the rack and pinion was not square with the frame!,front to rear approx.,1".after trying to fit three steering joints to the rack,i see why they mounted it at the angle they did.it was to reduce the angle of the steering joints so they would not bind.will this misalignment affect a straight line race car?i can't stand it and i want to change it! but this is a perfectly good flaming river rack! thanks!

I don't know how to help you with your problem with out pictures etc. but I sure as hell wouldn't want my name attached to a car with a crooked R&P! I can't stand a crooked picture in the doctors office! If it has to be jack legged then it is not the right part. Even if the owner wanted to keep it, I wouldn't work on it. Someone will ask (maybe years later) Who put that crooked POS in there. I don't want them saying.... Tommy.
