I got the front end in the 40. Its a dropped tube, reverse eye spring, bones are split and am using a chassis engineering trans and bone mount. Steering box is a Saginaw. Now the problem Im having is the drag link is at such an angle that it wants too rub on the wishbone when turning left. There is no load on the front end as far as engine and tranny goes so once the suspension settles this might not be an issue. But if this remains to be a problem, is there a drop to add to the pitman arm to cure this problem? And also the steering arms on the spindles have been heated and bent for clearance.
Ran into the same thing with my '47. WIth the car on the ground it isn't a problem driving. I figured I'd try it, if it didn't work I was going to heat and bend the drag link a little more to clear. My adjusting sleeve at the pitman arm has plenty of extra length.
Thanks for the reply AS. I figured it just might have to settle. The whole front end came out of a car that was already on the street...they pulled it out so they could put the MII in it.
greezy.. do everyone a favor and post a few pics of the car AFTER the motor is in.. I especially want to see what you do with the driver side manifolds.. jeff
Will do Sawzall, the initial plan was running fenderwell headers. And Im still up in the air about that. I dont think the coated headers will go with the rest of the style of the car, either does the saginaw box or disc brakes but those wont stand out like a sore thumb. Ive been searching for weedeaters site to check out thier head pipes so I can run the Vette ramhorns. Im runnning a pretty healthy 327 and dont want to restrict exhaust flow with a 265 manifold.
