building a tall t .. i was going to run a corvair box.. i reversed it and to make it work properly the pitman has to be faced downward.. the car is so low that if i do that the draglink wil have to be pointed upward alot... or my idea was to run the draglink on the bottom side under the front axle... has anyone done this.. i was noticing that my steering arm would hit the beam on the front so... its a 37 front axle with 40 spindles... is there a steering arm that would accomodate this??
the other option is to go with a different steering box.. some thing that the pitman faces up ward instead when mounted..
    what do you guys think??

Old VW bus has the arm pointing up.

I can't see running the drag link under the axle. JMO

F&J is on the mark. I've used them on hiboys with great results. Gemmer box with frame mounting bracket which lets you set the wheel where you want and gives you a fairly level drag link. You don't have to screw with the steering component geometry either.

i kinda like how this volvo 142 box worked out. it has the look of a smaller ford type box. not hard to find. cheap!

Sounds to me like you should NOT have reversed it.

I have been thinking the same thing. I am accumulating parts for a late sixties style build, when I was hunting for my Corvair box, I specifically looked for one that hadn't been reversed so my options were open. I plan to leave it that way until the chassis is together, the body is mounted, and it is sitting on its wheels, then I can really suss it out. Plan to use split model A bones, if I can end up with the drag link almost the same length as the bones and running parallel, I will probably run it arm up.

    pitman

Your mention of being setup LOW, brought to mind the pitman arm/draglink kissing the pavement issue, on certain low slung T-bucket builds. Certainly a concern if so!
