I'm using a OT tilt column in my 56 Dodge pickup so will be needing a steering wheel soon. What years of GM wheels will have the same spline OD and count at a 79-80 Firebird.?

Shooting for around a 15" wheel with maybe 2" of dish. I don't have the seat and column completely installed so the 2" is a guess, flat may work but not little bitty wheels with lots of dish!

I think 60s-80s probably, but before I hit the Upull I'd like to be sure.

Since your dealing with a vehicle built in 1956. Any GM wheel 1955 and up will fit shaft/splines.

^^^^^ Fair Enough. But I’d never use a Caddy wheel on anything.

I guess I wasn't clear. The vehicle is a 56 Dodge PU, getting a 79 Firebird column. I suspect your answer will be the same though?

I was hoping to find a chevy pickup wheel that is close to the right diameter. Some of the 60s/70s had a look that i like, right diameter and sort of plain.

My '53 pickup spline fit an 80s tilt column perfrctly. Just had to cut about 1/2" of Bakelite off the wheel to let the shaft penetrate adequately. Had to bondo on a sheet metal disk to adapt the wheel shape to match the column top.

You we’re clear. 79 falls under 1955 and up.
