Does having 2 single and 1 double u-joint in the steering box-to-column hookup require 2 support bearings? The double u-joint is connected to the box itself; not out in the middle somewhere. Don't ask why (I'm feeling kinda foolish....big screw-up! Gotta get myself out of the hole I dug)

A picture might help for a visual.

Yes. At three joints, you need a support. For every additional joint over three, you need another support.

I am going from what I recall your situation looking like. If you have the double on the box, I would think you could get by with a support on the shaft near the box and a second support at the opposite end of the same shaft. The other 2 joints and shaft should hook up to the back of said shaft and column from there. If you could get away with a standard joint at the box , only 1 support should work

    That will not be stable.

I would definitely go with two support bearings.

Thanks. Thinking thru these answers tells me that I need one support near the double joint, then another farther along that shaft near but before the middle joint, which will hook via shaft to a joint at the bottom of the column. Otherwise said middle joint will loop/flop whatever.
It was the double joint at the box that had me confused. Better now. Thanks again.
