Can anyone ID this steering wheel? 17" 3-spoke. It has a taper key hub that is the same as early Ford. There is a chrome ring inset in the wheel around the horn button. The only markings on the back are four letters in a square, reading clockwise from top left...D P D G an then AV to the right and the SANTOUPE 678755. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Neal
Sure it isn't "DCPD"? As in Mopar: Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler, Desoto. I'll check the number when I'm home. None of my Mopars have the keyway like that though...
I still think its a 34 ,Maybe not ford ,Reminds me of the one my dad was working on ,Id rule out the 40's ,I think 30's Plus Ill give you a bump
4woody gets the prize.... I read his answer then looked at the pic of the wording. That is absolutely the "stacked cube" of letters that Mopar used as a logo. Take a look at the logo.
Neat wheel.Would be interesting to know if any of the internal bits would interchange with an F1 box.
check out this link , down towards the bottom where the chrysler /desoto stuff is. http://sites.google.com/site/identi...rument-panels-index/instrument-panels-page-1a
Neal, I had a black steering wheel which was off a '36 Dodge, the one you have looks to be for a '37-38 Dodge.
Definitely not Chrysler. That's the only book I have for pre-war though. Do those key-ways look original to the wheel? My '38 has splines, but no key-ways. Coulda been altered to fit...something.
