I looks like the last guy who owned my car tried to get the steering wheel and now its loose. So how does it really come off?
To remove the steering wheel, disconnect the horn wire at the horn, push down hard on the center of the hord ring and turn it counter clockwise and it will come off.To remove the wheel you will need a steering wheel puller after you remove the center nut,in a lot of cases there is something else you should do while you have the wheel off and that is to replace the steering shaft bushing and cup,Ford used the same one for years and they are available from Ford about $10 for both pieces(pm me for the part numbers) when these wear out they have been known to to fall down inside the column which is no big deal, just install the new ones anyway,if you don't replace these your steering shaft will flop up and down.
Thanks Jeff, I'll have to try and get the wheel off. My wheel is flopping around so the bushing and cup numbers would be great. Why not post the part numbers here so if anybody else is having the same issue may this will help.
The part numbers are B1AZ-3518-A and C3DZ-3517-A Dennis Carpenter has these also about $8.50 for both,I have a diagram of the column but you would have to email me to get it no url #,so no post here.
