My wife's '57 Chieftan needs some cracks filled in the steering wheel. I was planning to do the ol' epoxy job on it as just the rim is bad. Here's the catch, I'm sure you Poncho guys might know this, but the factory put a really cool looking fake mother of pearl finish on the whole wheel. Any way to replicate this or am I stuck just repainting it white?

I think I would consider painting it white then clear with one of the pearl's colors in it, then wet brush in the other pearl colors then clear it, read up on faux finishes. it can be done...

Ask your wife--I betcha there's some kind of nail polish out there that replicates this.
