Technical Steering wheel?

Discussion in 'Traditional Customs' started by chopolds, Sep 17, 2018.

  1. I was going to say the same, Chevy, Pontiac and small Olds have the small shaft, but eventually in the 60s they standardize on that. I had a gorgeous '58 Buick wheel and of course it only fits the big shaft columns, so I sold it. But I was able to put a '64 Skylark wheel which is small shaft right on an '84 Skylark tilt after I changed the horn contact. That's the only thing they really mess around with from wheel to wheel.

Olds 88 Futurama, or 59 Olds? Or other Oldsmobile steering wheels. Fifties had the cool plastic center with the be World inside.

  3. I was on the hunt for a wheel a few years back. I found this one hanging on the back wall of a wrecking yard.
I butchered it, put a center section for my column in it. putty, sand, repeat. Painted, added a chrome bullet and called it a day.
