Need help i'm building a 48 Chevy fleetline i'm trying to keep it as og as posible my question is what stering column can i use with my og stering wheel and a automatic shifter that would fit nice under my dash
I must live too far out in the woods. There's been a hot rod in my garage since the day I was born, and I have no ****ing clue what an OG is... I hope it's not a ***ual term... boy will I be embarr***ed.... Old Gold? Organic Gardening? Overly Gay? Over***ed Granny? I was thinking Ol Skool... since I know that Z has taken the place of S, but I didn't know G took over S too... It's like all the other consonants want to make an S of themselves... JOE
Well if it turns out like Al Capone's car, then alright. If it's just some ******** talkin' little wigger... then **** THAT!!! Peace and Luv, Man... JOE
You had time to correct my typing ok so i forgot to put the R in the middle for it to be org but i thought some one would understand and still no help on my question
mid-70's chevy van colunms fit nice---tilt or not---i think column is 2" dia.--i've used them in lots of projects---i think the yeras of vans are something like 74--79--maybe. getting hard to find now
Saw off the stock steering column about 4" below the floor/firewall. Then saw the "jacket" of it back 2" more, leaving about 2' of steer shaft exposed..... Make a Delrin bushing to fit both the jacket and shaft. Or if you are creative install a sealed bearing of the appropriate inner and outer dimension.. Then make a "detent" bracket on the jacket to allow the second gear lever to actuate the auto trans shifting-[at the same time it provides a "lockout" for neutral and park]........ [A neutral switch is a smart addition on the detent too.]
