Hey guys so I've tried doing some research and I get a little confused when trying to find the matching tach or speedo for these two gauges. My dad gave me these. I think they're considered small block gauges? Is there even a tach or speedo that matches these? ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1422286341.067322.jpg

I'm no expert by any stretch, but they just look like small logo SW gauges to me. I think speedos that match are pretty easy to find, can't say about tachs. Are there any numbers stamped on the body (cups) of the gauges?

This speedo is a 550 series, according to the numbers stamped on the housing. I think that translates to maybe late 70s-early 80s but not sure. Ones like this are on e-bay all of the time.

Just curious, why you want to find a matching tach and speedo? That wasn't very common on early rods....usually, the oil and temp gauges were added to complement the stock instruments.

Kind of like with wheels, front and rear didn't need to match on most cars until well into the 1970s.

The two gauges you show in photo, are the "cheap" line of S-W...so use any spedo or tach to your choosing..

Your gauges are regular Standard series, produced from the 60's to present. There is no Standard series speedo or tach to go with them. The Deluxe series speedo and tach would look fine with them. Anything from the 60's through the 80's. Modern Deluxe series don't have a great reputation. You hear of a lot of quality problems.

Thanks for the info. I'm trying to match these because I don't have any originsl gauges as I'm building a model a coupe with a 32 dash. I'm getting a Grace & Co. Three gauge panel and just want them all to match. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1422292555.030727.jpg

The needles don't look like "Standard" or "Deluxe" series. Most of them were just a straight sided needle without a pointer or moon counter weights on center pivot gauges These may be Industrial or Military issue.

Date codes stamped on the back can be referenced at http://www.roadsters.com/sw/#dates

Good luck. The search for info and for vintage SW stuff can be frustrating and also rewarding.

As that catalog shows, they also made a Standard gauge with a Greenline face. Kinda rare.

Your gauges are common, but no reason you shouldn't use them.

Surprisingly I don't see many or any fuel gauges on eBay or anything that match my set. There are a few speedos on there that are out of that catalogue that go to 160mph and have a red needle. Both way over $200.

How common is it for a tach to break? There's a matching tach from that catalogue but the seller can't guarantee that it works. It's in great shape though. Can't really see how it wouldn't work.

As said by Squirrel above, these were usually added below the dash in a separate pod to compliment the idiot lights of the stock dash. A fuel gauge was not on the high-performance-minded driver's mind. They might be rather rare. A new gauge in the Standard series looks a lot like the old ones, but the needle is different.

    Patience

Took me over a year to find a sender for my tach.

Got the speedo for $15 at a swap meet and the tach 5 years later for $25 (NOS) with no sender. Kept watching for a sender and finally one came up (also NOS). Also sources installation instructions and trouble shooting and repair manual for the tach.

Looks good with a full dash of matching gauges, all early 60s SW

Like the gauges you got, the needles look neat.
