I did not know that! There is no way to identify the sensors at this point, they have been in there for years. I may just purchase 2 new sensors and swap them out.

I just ordered two on Amazon, let's find out if this works. I hate to be one that talks out of school.

While there are many facets to bring knowledge and experience to readers of this board,
the one that always brings a happy vision to our eyes is the universal M. Moriarity.
Go ahead and call me a kiss-up. It is so
Absolutely with any luck the resourceful can still search out golden prizes of yesteryear.
Mark hasn't been everywhere. Now Mike Wolf, that's another epic story.
Speaking of TV exposure has that Rocco & Cheater's Speed Shop been cleaned out yet?

Looks like he SW mech oil pressure gauge does not include the Nylon tubing kit, Product Number: 82553-F. You gotz to pay more for that at $32 bucks

  4. Report back once you get the senders in, I have the same issue you’re having and just haven’t got around to pulling the trigger since I have developed an unhealthy obsession with expensive mountain bikes and my fun funds have been going that direction lately.

Update, I took your advice and ordered the 280EC senders for my flathead. I did the install recently as I waited for the rainy season to arrive to tear my car apart. The rain showed up on schedule, and I replaced the senders.

After clearing a rather nasty air bubble on both sides of the motor I finally got it up to temp, and had @Kim Strobeck monitor the two gauges in the dash while I simultaneously kept an eye on the direct fit water temp gauge on the left-hand water pump and the use of a handheld IR temp reader. Both gauges moved together as if they were running off one sending unit (they were more erratic before). They don't read spot on but are much closer.

When the direct fit gauge hit 180, and the IR aimed at the water T-Stat housings concurred, the gauges read 190 each. The T-stats opened and the radiator did it's thing. I let it idle for quite a bit in the garage while I played with the idle speed and checked for leaks. It never got any warmer than that.

So, I would say that these senders are a big improvement over the ones that came with the gauges.

  6. I would love to find original Wings ammeter and oil pressure gauges for my 32.

I camped alongside two guys in Pendelton at the hotrodarama a few years ago that own a gauge repair and resale business in Portland. I know I saved their number but I can't find it. I'll keep looking.

I wish they were dead on accurate but this is easier on the brain than looking at 220 and wondering if I am about to do the green fluid puke on the street at the next intersection. I know I have a 185 degree fan t-stat for my fan (it's electric! Boogie woogie woogie) and it never turned on the entire time, so I know it didn't get that warm. They are a lot closer though. Good enough for me.
