I bought a whole set of SW guages off of the ole fella that sells me things cheap. I pulled this SW mechanical temp guage out of the cluster. There's no way it can tighten up in my 59ab head. Well, the threads will tighten but there nothing for the sender to bottom out and create a sealing surface. In other words, I can thread the pc into the head and still move the sender and line in and out freely.

If I can't buy the correct adapters, I guess I could put it up for trades for an electric one....

There is a br*** threaded adapter that screws into the block head or intake and then the gauge screws into that. Then it tightens and doesnt leak. I may have one if you can give me the sizes ill sure look.

All the gauge companies supply them and they'll be in the Stewart-W or whatever brand catalog at the parts stores. If sold individually, I believe you need the one to 3/8 pipe; some gauge companies just give you a bag with a bunch of choices.

That sounds good! I really like this guage and it matches my others.....besides, this ole' fella has been really good to me and I want to take him a ride and point out everthing that was his.....

I'll double check the size. I may take you guys up on that offer OR if I can just go to the parts super house supplier and get one......

I'm pretty sure it's 3/8"....it's been a long time since I worked at the hardware store and lowes plumbing department.....used to know it all (wife says I still do ahahaha)

    thanks!

    man, that's great!

If you've been around hardware enough, you can just jam your finger into a pipe opening and know immediately by which finger fits and how much it hurts what size it is...
