Does anyone have a link or a file(pic) of a Stewart Warner gauge timeline?
With all the choices and variations Id like to see one.
Ive got a pretty good idea of the breakdown but Id like to be sure!
I did a search but each thread tends to deal with 1 style at a time...
    Thanks for any input!

Yup!! Roadsters.com has about the best info available in one place.

I wouldn't mind seeing an all encomp***ing SW thread with gauges and their original applications, time lines and general info when they were used.

SNIFF SNIFF.....do I smell a Mother of all SW thread coming on?

I have a 5" SW Curved gl*** crescent needle tach that I'd love to know what it originally came in. It was probably some sort of machinery but this one goes to 8k I think so that doesn't make sense.

A Stewart-Warner "timeline" would look like a bowl of spaghetti. SW made some noodles that are so long they wrap around and around, while others are short, only to be modified a little bit so that they look almost like the original noodle.

Good luck to the guy who wants to ***emble an all-encomp***ing SW Story. Even trying to explain the gauges we hot rodders care most about would take a hundred pages. From the smooth-bezel standards and 2-5/8ths, to the rear-mount "Auburn" style. From the winged stepped-bezel, to the big logo stepped-bezel, to the small logo stepped-bezel, to the greenline stepped-bezel. And don't forget the Twin Blue. This is just scratching the surface.

The only thing I found incorrect on Roadsters.com was the info about the SW Twin BLue Gauges. He shows a pair of "Twin Blue" gauges but is talking about "Greenline" The Twin Blue came out in 1958 and stopped in 1966.The Greenline replaced the Twin Blue and came out in 1965.

I would certainly try and help. I sort of have a bunch of stuff. Did you ever see the Stewart Warner story in TRJ 11?

Roasters.com is full of missing information on the early SW gauges. He doesn't even distinguish between military applications and offered speed equipment. Terry Seaholm in Tacoma, WA probably knows a lot more info on early SW gauges. He sells them constantly. I just saw him again at Turlock. He is on here, but does not post often. WEBSTER is his name on here.

I think if we could keep it auto, industrial aftermarket it might streamline the process. Obviously funky and rare pieces should be included. But I dont see a purpose in a 10 mph steamroller gauge fitting here unless its just for year(timeline) i.d.
