I while back one of my wifes customers was over and see my gauge collection, he said "i got some of them green gauges at home, ill bring em over you can have em", i didnt know what to expect, about 6 months later he shows up and i was gone and he dropped the gauges off, heres was i found!
i tried to tell him they were worth some $$ but he insisted that i have them and he wanted nothing for them! he said he bought them brand new for his 63 vette but never put them he, he said he thought he had a full set but couldnt find them, maybe theyll pop up!

dates might be p1 p6 m4 and p6 so looks like these ones were made in 1968 and 1970

Jeff, aren't those the silverline gauges? There's 3 NOS ones in the box on ebay right now...I'm not a big fan of the silverline gauges, but it does seem like you never see them around anywhere...

I noticed that too. I just chalked it up to editing, and ***umed he meant to say "twin blue" instead of "greenline".

FWIW, Black Widows used a large face, 8,000 RPM AC Delco mech tach that is REAL big $$$ now. Think I have a photo of one somewhere, maybe I can dig it up.

google to the rescue. Heres one in a '57 Corvette. It was also used in '57 Corvettes that were ordered with the race suspension/brake package.

Like falcongeorge says those came in the race suspension/brake cars usually with the fuelie and super rare air box options.

That AC tack is so cool. I just don't know why modern gauge manufacturers do not duplicate that font and style.

Could someone provide an example of what the numbers should look like on a SW gauge when decoding its date or at least point out in my picture which ones to look for? I'm ***uming the letter and number on the end of the second row? Then that would mean this one was produced in August of 1958?

Oh, and bump for more SW goodness.

DAM, This has been a very interesting read. I have learned a lot from these 6 pages of wissdom. I picked up a very nice set of twin blue at the swapmeet last weekend for $2.50 along with the orignal SW pannel. Could not belive the guy when he told me the asking price.

  19. Here is a set I picked up a bit ago. Can some one confirm they are SW? I have had some messages telling me they are AC. The duplex is definitely SW, it has SW stamped in the housing. The rest all have orange letters ink stamped on them.

here is my post on them with some better pictures http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=745092

I believe the AC's that i have had had AC stamped in the back like the SWs. the speedo and tach housings look like SW stampings tho too.

    Hi all,

Can anyone help me identify these two SW gauges:

    1. Ammeter (-30/+30): date code N4 (April 1945?), flat gl***, ~2" diameter
    [IMG]

    3. Oil Pressure (0 to 50 PSI): Stewart-Warner script on back but no date code that I could find, convex gl***, ~ 2 5/8" diameter

Thanks in advance. I'm going to put them up for sale and trying to ID them and get an idea of how much to ask. eBay is all over the map: $20 to $400 for similar. Both are untested.

In the 2" variety, amp gauges seem to be most common. I've got several. Much like the 2 3/8 and 2 5/8 crescent pointer gauges, fuel/gas gauges and functional water temp gauges seem to be the hardest to find, and highest in price. I'd put a value on the amp gauge in the $15-$30 range. The oil gauge has a lower pressure range, which is good for early engines. They seem to fluctuate a bit in price, but IMO, $75-$140.

Amp gauge is a more common piece. They can be picked up at swap meets for a $5 bill. On ebay its about $25-30. Has it got chrome under the black paint? Cause they came in both chrome and painted (for military use) bezels.

The oil pressure is a rarer gauge but unfortunately the 75-100 lb gauges are more desirable but a 50 can be used with a banger motor. Maybe $100-125. I believe it came out of a studebaker or similar quality car. And for the record its a 2 3/8" gauge...since its a rear mount you count the bezel that sticks through the panel, not the diameter of the whole gauge. JohnnyA
