I just picked up this S W 160 mph speedo at a swap meet, like 30 minutes ago. :D Anyone know what year/years it was made? I included a pic of he face and the ink stamp. The stamp is "530YH3" in case you cant read it. Sorry the pics aren't top quailty, but the flash was giving me fits. Solid white needle. Yellowish numbers. Mechanical.

Yes, I did a search. I found a year chart, but with no real explination on it, so it didnt help much.

    Anyone know?

They consider that one a "Big Block" gauge, because of the larger logo. The best I can tell you is its late fifties-early sixties. I have about five mechanical tachs to match that one , and they are 531's. I've tried to find info on them too. Somebody has to be a expert on here. I'm not sure if there is a way to date code them.

Oh ,yeah...I agree. I wish I knew what they were really worth. I'd like to think it was worth twice that, depending on the condition. The numbers look a little yellowed, but as long as it works, I don't think you took a beating. Just look on ebay, see what they're going for. That's all I know. At the end of the day, they look cool so whatever its worth to you.... Try a google search. I haven't took much time to learn about them. I'm betting there's a serial number somewhere inside the gauge. Not worth the trouble to me.

  7. I've got one of those SW 160mph speedos with the # 550BPY8 on it. I think it's newer than yours, maybe late 60's or even 70's. Wish I knew more about it as well. Doesn't have the Stewart-Warner lettering on sides of the SW. I'm sure mine is relatively worthless, probably one of thousands produced....Don.

Yours is a late 50's as Skrarp said. I've got an NOS I paid $100+ for several years ago and have seen used ones go for as much as $225 recently.

Your numbers are "yellow" like mine. Were they faded to yellow or did they come that way? Just hard to believe the numbers would yellow, yet the pointer and odometer is BRIGHT white as it is.

That gauge should be from March 1964 according to Roadsters.com.

I bought one from Speedway last year 160 MPH. Might be a little different. Sure looks the same. Better part of a Franklin note.

Thanks, but honestly SW from the 50s/60s and the new ones aren't even hardly the same company. Cant find "hencho de mexico" anywhere on mine :D

Yes, this is the block style, but to hard core S/W collectors it's not a "Big or Large Block". The "Large Block" speedo and tachs have a needle that is fatter than what this one has. They most likely will also have curved glass.
