Hello fellow HAMBers. Well....I feel kinda dumb asking this question, but I need some help. I would like to hook up a Stewart Warner vacuum gauge to my 400 sbc. I have the rubber line (and a T if needed). I was wondering where I plumb this in? Can I T into the rubber Vacuum Advance line that runs from the Holley carburetor to the distributor? (Or is this something that shouldn't be done?) Ideally, I would like to use a br*** fitting and run it from the intake manifold to the Vacuum gauge. Here are some photos of what I have. This is the Vacuum Advance line from the carburetor to the distributor. Ideally, I would like to hook a br*** fitting into the intake manifold. There are 2 ports in the intake, but are these Vacuum ports??? Theres one on each side of the intake manifold as pictured below. What thread size are these typically? ............. There is also this port on the Holley carburetor, but this is a Timed Port, so I dont believe it is ideal for a vacuum gauge. That's the best description I can give at this point as far as what I have and what I'm trying to accomplish. I greatly appreciate your guidance!!
those plugs on the manifold go to the exhaust crossover p***age. that will not work. the one the vac adv is hooked up to is the one you want.
Thank you Mark!! I ***ume then that I just T into that vacuum advance line? Is it true that I should T in atleast 5" away from the carburetor? Thank you. @Moriarity
