Over 6,000 folks here, they are all not going to be happy campers.

  2. yes 6000 folks no need to rake people over the coals and charge $5 for a 40 cent sticker that price is outa line and if I am the only person with the balls to say so I am proud of it this is a forum that means i get a opinion and get to speak it. not shut up about it. if it doesnt fair with the many sheep .my point is if charging $5 for a sticker keeps the spiirt of the hamb free. you are all lying to your selfs I bought a hamb calender and the price was fair the price of these stickers is not plain and simple. I am not crying. I am steping up and makeing a statement and you are allowed to not like it

Doesnt this go to help the Hamb or am I missing something here Slazzen?
I haven't as of yet put anything up for auction..
I have added to giveaways for things like Tech winner and such.
The least I could do is pay alittle over the production cost of a sticker that I want. My .50

  4. Hey Slazzen, I'll back you up, WTF the price is double what it should be. I got quote to make stickers and the were literaly about .35-.50 each. I mean I can deal with 2.50 stick or 3.00. someone is making a killing? anyhow enjoy your stickers everyone, they'll make you that much cooler, and for those that bought 50 bucks worth- 100 bucks worth, your plain retarded- 20 stickers for a hundred bucks!!? I hope you guys have enough non-running heaps in you back yards to stick them on.

My main point is that you all are getting on the bandwagon over some god dammned stickers!!
Excuse my post because I had only read a few of the early parts of this long ass sticker tread, were everyone was goo-goo over some stickers and buying them up. I noticed Slazzens post and it was on the latest page, didn't know if a bunch of folks were making a fuss about this.
I really can give a crap who's making the big money, be it Ryan, sticker guy whomever, just seems to my that at 5.00 dollars a piece we could have had enbroidered patches.

Damn y'all are a bunch of whiney little girls. The balance above and beyond cost and shipping goes to the HAMB. If you can't grasp that concept your a moron. Something like $4 and change a sticker. Don't let the door hit ya in the ass...

ya know...when Ryan was gone and his buddy was running this place for the week....he stated he thought this was probably one of the 100 largest (based on bandwidth used) FREE sites in the world.....yes the world. It's not really free....someone is paying. From some hints that I've seen on here...I would venture a guess that this place costs Ryan easilly over $1000 every month......
From what I remember...every time Ryan ends up with surplus cash....he uses it to improve the speed or effeciency of the hamb. He buys new equipment...or whatever...and even if the guy did make a few bucks...who really cares???? He took the time to create this fucking place and spends the time maintaining it and moderating it....he deserves to get back a little...but thats not what he's about!
Ryan could easily charge a monthly or even annual subscription for this place...and make a pile of cash...or he could sell ads,or whatever the big companies are asking him to do....but it's not what he has wanted so far.
    Hey Ryan....Thank you.

And anyone raising bucks for this place....thank you too.

With shipping it comes out to roughly $1 for the sticker and $4 for the HAMB. It's really not that big a deal IMO. I ordered two and that $8 is what I spend on lunch most days. If you look at it as the cost of just the sticker, yes it's high. But it's no different than someone running a HAMB auction and getting $100 for a $25 item. What about the raffles where you most likely get nothing? I've never won crap in any contest/raffle I've entered. Sure I WANT to win, but it never works out that way. Here's to hoping that luck changes with the raffle motor this year.

As soon as I get my new windshield for the coupe, that's where mine is going. I will save the other one for my flatty car project, whatever that ends up being.

    AMEN Brewsir,
This place is like my favorite bar and being a capitalist I believe that the proprietor should make money!!!

You don't go in someones garage, open their fridge, drink all the beer, and dont restock or give him money do you? I look forward to getting my sticker and adding class to my POS [IMG]

  10. Keep it simple..........you don't want one......don't buy one then........if you want one then buy one......but let's move on and look at the big picture.......were supporting the HAMB and afew bucks from my little wallet on something like a sticker is ok with me. Oh by the way I'm not a sheep either just a HAMBer who would like a sticker for my ride to show my pride of being apart of this great family called the HAMB.

    ARE STICKERS STILL AVAILABLE?

I want to get some. I hope more are in the works.

To anyone who has a problem with the price --

Don't think of it as a $5 sticker. Think of it as a DONATION to the HAMB, and you happen to get a cool sticker as a thank-you gift. Anyone give money to charity or your local radio station? That's how it works. You give $100 and get an ugly tote bag. At least we'll be getting a cool sticker at a donation price most can afford.

<font color="green">Well you guys know that I like to sit back and watch, you know, the "quiet type." [IMG]

It all boils down to this...

If you think $5.00 is too much for a sticker, and that your $4.00 contribution to the HAMB is too much....

Perhaps you just don't buy the sticker?

Perhaps you sit back and wait for the HAMB to wind out once everyone has adopted your line of thinking?

What you MOST probably SHOULDN'T do is jump in and start burning up more resources bitching about it.

I'm designing a new keyboard with a "shut the fuck up" key on it.

I seem to need to say that alot lately.

  15. I would venture a guess that the comments from the last two pages of this thread are EXACTLY why Ryan is so hesitant to approve stickers, shirts plaques, etc. bitch, bitch, bitch [IMG]

Just why did you sign off on this one, boss? [IMG] [IMG]

btw, thanks to all the people who helped with this one--great fundraiser!(and I didn't even get one [IMG])

    I love this place..........

  16. When I saw the price, I thought of it as a way to raise money for the HAMB.

We all know ryan well enough to know that he keeps the HAMB finances separate from his personal finances. You have to trust in that. A place as good as this... one that has made so many connections, a place that has enabled a lot of us to BENEFIT in the hot rod world because of it... COULDN'T have been built around deceit.

Because of the HAMB, I have more people than ever that I can call "friend". Because of the HAMB I've had more fun at shows like Billetproof, the Asphalt Invitational, the Strangers BBQ and the HAMB Drags... I wouldn't even KNOW about those shows if it wasn't for the HAMB.

Because of the HAMB, I got to participate in a "chance of a lifetime" event called the Ego-Rama. Something I'll be telling my grandkids about some day.

Beause of the HAMB I have had the chance to write for publications like Shop Rag and The Goodguys' Gazette.

Because of the HAMB, I have had guys like Mike Bishop, Rick Amado, Keith Weesner, Jim Aust, Rich Guasco, Mart Holden, germ (a real privelege) and Shag Wentworth over at my house/garage to BS, BBQ and have a beer... and a whole slew of other HAMB'ers from all over the United States over too.

Because of the HAMB, I was given an excuse to build... and fulfill a lifelong dream of owning and racing a drag car... at one of the best drag racing events ever.

Now, if you veiw the glass as half full, you might think that all I do is take, take, take from the HAMB... the way I see it, I log on here to help others... give info, advice, show people what I'm doing... I wasn't "given" all of those things... I didn't expect a hand out... I EXPERIENCED them... I held a fundraiser at my house two and a half years ago... a fundraiser for the HAMB to raise money. An unexpected side effect was an introduction to over 150 HAMBers and friends.

If you think of it as giving, you'll get so much in return...
    Sam.

The HAMB is paid for this year? That's news to me. The board isn't anywhere close to being paid for this year. We covered the first two months completely and covered the remaining months partly - the rest has come out of my pocket gladly. That said, the HAMB drags will most likely cover me for those partly paid months and up until October or so.

A lot of people get offended when money and server costs are brought up on the HAMB. I usually don't. HAMB finances are personal and private to me. I don't ask for donations and I don't ask for help. I have never pocketed money from the HAMB - not cuz I don't want to make some dough, but because I don't want to deal with setting the HAMB up as a commercial venture and deal with taxing. Last year we ended up making something like $600 over the total annual server costs and put it all into server hardware.

So, folks can bitch about fund raisers and how they are ran all they want. I don't mind. Everyone can have an opinion... The only point I want to stand is that the HAMB IS NOT ABOUT MONEY! People should not feel obligated to donate, have auctions, sell stickers, etc... It's not about that.

Now... All that said, I do mind being attacked personally and if that did happen I would bite back in a more than personal fashion. Talk bad about my finances, my hot rods, or whatever all you want - but leave my message board and myself out of it.

ok, I'm coming out of the closet here...

Ryan Cochran is my hero, no shit.

that said I'm still up for $20 worth of stickers, I've only been here for a few months and have already bought and sold a car, learned tons of stuff and made a bunch of friends. All via HAMB. I would gladly pay $10 a sticker to help out.

I fail to see your logic.

Maybe if you don't want the stickers you could just shut the hell up?

We are all pretty good judges of how and where to spend our own money.

Thanks for watching out for us though, that was a close one!!!

Slazzen didn't do anything wrong. Just an opinion... Cool.

I do wonder if Farmer was insinuating that I am using HAMB money to build a project. I would LOVE to be able to do that, but I can't. See, if I turned the HAMB into a profitable venture I would have to pay taxes on the income. With my current tax bracket, that means the government would get half of everything I took in. The HAMB would be gone.

Besides, if I really wanted to make some dough all I would have to do is advertise. I can get a lot more money out of businesses than I can from you bums.

It's not about money. Don't worry about money. It's my job to keep this place running and I've been doing it for almost a decade now. My money is not anyone's concern here.

Root I dont want to read the whole post. Can you send me a rundown on it when you're done? [IMG]

That said I don't know who, why or what was said and I don't want to know.
I've never met Ryan face to face although I've tried a time or two. Just never works out maybe this year. I do know from my experience that his word is good. For those of you who don't know me as far as I'm concerned your word is all you've got. That makes Ryan alright in my book.
I don't care anymore about finances than I do about the rules. I do care that the HAMB stays afloat. If for no other reason its a good way for me to keep in touch with reality, ever how twisted that may sound. [IMG]

Now back to my original offer from the other post. I can probably swing 10 bucks. So put me down for two, I'll get the cash to you. I'll match that with another 10 for the HAMB.
Don't send me the stickers, just send them to the HAMB drags with someone. Preferably someone that I don't know, it will be an adventure. I don't have near enough adventure in my life.

Now as for the project. Ryan I probably don't have anything in the world that will work on your project, and I know you don't need it anyway. But feel free to come across town and dig through my shit. Its yours if you want it friend.
