Hey ya'all, I'm the canuck newby guy. Just thought I'd post a few pics of my 51 Merc -- the car was flipped over on its roof for like 20 years - so needless to say the roof was toast. I drug it home and found a 50 Merc 4 dr donor car. Layed the 4dr roof down 6.5 inches lower with a fastback slope - shaved drip rails and slanted B pillars. I'm havin a good time with it - gonna run bias whites with 57 caddy caps...........see if these pics will work:
I like the stance you got....will be nice soon It is already better than mine...(I do not have one) Keep us posted
Stickman, I think the car looks really good. It takes a lot of heart to bring a car back that is that far down. I have a 50 2 door that I'm about to chop. Makes mine seem like a cake walk. Good job. I'd like to see a good profile shot of the car. 6" is alot to chop a merc. Yours seems to look good though. Keep us posted. Welcome. TP
Interesting, don't believe I've ever seen two Mercs Chopped the same, guess thats why I like um!!! OLDBEET
I'm getting some one piece rear fenders made up with built in skirts and am frenching 60 oldsmobile tail-lights out back - just finishin up one side - I'll snap some pics and get em posted. The car didn't have any drive train left on her, not to mention chunks of the frame were missing - so once I got er all squarred up, I hung it from the roof and slid an olds frame under her - I'll try a pic:
Well I'm glad ya'all like it so far. I'll get more pics posted soon. I've been collecting 53 chev bullet teeth for the grill - got 9 so far - would like to round up 2 more. The body channell is about 7 inches over the frame - makes for a nice easy step up.
And I thought I was the only one runnin' those caps. Looks damn good for something that laid on its roof for 20 yrs. -r
