Does anyone have a 1951 ford (preferably with overdrive) in the metrowest/Boston area I could look at? I have no pictures and I need to see the shifter linkage connections badly. I'll travel to wherever the car is to take a look, i've run out of solutions. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
You only have two levers on that trans the forward. One is first and reverse. Towards the rear is first center is neutral , forward is reverse. The rear lever forward is second center is neutral rear is third
Thanks for the reply, but I'm having issues with the shape in the rods. I purchased NOS 1951 shift linkages and they conflict with either the OD kickdown switch or the gas pedal. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Then you have rods for non over drive trans. I just built my own floor shifter for a overdrive and had to make my own rods out of some 3/8 rod to clear everything. I'll post pictures later or you can check-out some of my. Old posts
Brigrat has been kind enough to provide me with a picture of his column shift levers (the same through 49-51), if there is no one around me with a '51, could someone provide pics? 1)This first picture is from above of the column shift levers. 2)The second picture is from below, looking up at the shifter linkages connecting with the levers. 3)The third picture is looking up at the linkages connecting to the transmission levers. 4)And the fourth is looking up at how the rods p*** under the gas pedal and OD kickdown switch. ANY pictures of '51 from ANY of these perspectives would be greatly appreciated.
Go to the shoeboxford.com web site. That's all they do is 49-51 Fords. You'll get some good help there. Also buy a green bible. About $20.
Best I can do without putting it on the hoist, hope you can make heads or tails of it! Also sent E-Mail pic's.
