Hot Rods Still have a squeeling alt.

    How is that alternator belt routed?
    Looks like it is only on the water pump pulley.

    I'm going to speak only to what "appears" to be in the photo. I'm not liking what I see with the belt to alt. pulley. That said. When I see it it made my mind instantly go to a repair I did to my farther's forced air heating system at his home that I forgot about until this photo. He declared that he needed a new furnace because of all the wracked it made. Turned out to be only a bad pulley. I cheated to find out if what I saw at the root of the pulley was out of round at the root as compared to upper 2/3 by trying a wider belt first after same size replacements didn't stop the noise. Doing this finally stopped it and that's the way it's still running because I'm lazy and the pulley is of an odd size by today's standards do to the fact the furnace is of 1954. I'm not saying put a wider belt and run it. But all this started after that replacement alt.?

    you need to put the air conditioning belt on it. there is not enough "wrap around" the pulleys without it.... this is also way off topic and I am locking it down... go put an A/C belt on it and it will be fixed
