I've got a 52 plymouth cranbrook, I've just got it running and haven't gotten it out on the road yet.

  8. well if Merge can't get his friends shop we should be able to do it in my garage(24x40) well we can use 1/2 of it, the other 1/2 has my project in it. i have a big ass wire welder(gotta check how much gas i have left in the bottle), an air compressor that will keep up w/anything i've used so far & i can get a couple of propane heaters.

let me know if u want to use it......joe

Hell yeah, I'll help you chop your truck! I live right up the street. I do metal fab and upholstery all day on old cars. I'm sure I can squeeze some time in on the weekend or evenings. You might wanna do a little measuring and planning before chopping it, so it doesn't get too outta hand:eek:

I would re-consider the 8" chop. You are a pretty tall guy. My car is chopped 4" and channelled probably 5" and It gets very uncomfortable and Im like 5' 7"

Hot Rods arent supposed to be comfortable but it would really blow having a truck that you wouldn't wanna drive.

Dude I got into Nicks car and lets just say I look like a freegin giant in there! I'm 6'2" and its a little tight. But then again my coupe's channeled like 5 inches and I do ok. Me and Tatooedup37 talked last night alot about it. I think the chop would work fine, but I dont know about the channel. Just my opinion though! Lets get this going though and figure out a day to do it! And preferably a day where trees arent falling all over from ice on them and when everyone has power!! Ha ha

I'm around 2hrs away, but I don't drink beer and it sounds like you might need a 'designated grinder' to straighten up the sudsy welding!!!

I might be able to come down and plowboy would probably be up for the trip also but you might want to rethink your chop. That much chop with a laid back post might look a little funny with a rounded cab, You might want to chop it but add a strip to the cab so the post dont lean back so far, Just a thought. Mel

OK OK OK so I did some more thinkin' sat in the truck and did some measuring. I think we are lookin' @ 5-6'' and stil 2.5-3" laid back. As far as a date I just got moved to a shift that I work the next 17 days straight 12hrs a day. so it will prolly be after Xmas. I really dont wanna chop this thing the day before Xmas. I think Jan 7-8 would work out much better. Get back @ me Phone # (618)795-4736 Jon
