Any body have a photo of a stock '32 firewall ?? I have a original firewall, but all of the holes have been filled. I'm using the stock dash tunnel and would like to return all holes. Thanks Terry

The 3 dimpled in holes on each side of center hold the stock dash. The holes to hold the dash are in the center. of the dimples.

Have the dimples in the firewall been filled or just the holes for the dash tunnel welded up? Without looking at one there are about 6 or 7 dimples and that's where the holes go. Will have a look in a minute and confirm.

The 3 holes on each side are in a 1/2 moon configuration

As a piece of Ford trivia/fact, what we all call the firewall, Ford called the dash when those cars came out.
So when you look up original Ford literature for the deuce, when they refer to the dash, they mean the firewall, o.k.;)

If you have access to a Bob Drake catalog, there is a picture of a stock firewall with all the original holes. He sells a grommet kit for all those holes in the various sizes.

  9. Google "1932 Ford Firewall" and you will get an idea of what you are looking for, they look like Swiss cheese. See page
11-3 thru 11-5 of "The 1932 Ford Book" if you want the real story. Also try asking on fordbarn.com.

I have the dimpled holes drilled. Thanks for the help !!

  11. If it is the drawing I remember from years ago the holes that did not require grommets were not marked (like the ones that hold the insulation onto the firewall). Post what you find for comments.

Some of the holes may be for the rubber insulator that was on the rear of the shakey Model B engine...

  14. The fire wall in post #12 looks pretty good, only a few incorrect holes. You need to remember that the same firewall was used for the 4 cylinder and the V8. The holes for the vibration damper on the Model B engine and a few more unique to the Model B were in all firewalls and were left open when a V8 engine was used. There are some extra holes unique to the V8 that were left open when a 4 cylinder was installed. The insulation pad on the inside of the firewall covered these holes.

I think Terry needs to post a good clear photo of his firewall and ask which holes are incorrect. A pieces of tape with numbers would help.

Charlie: Thanks for the clarification and were there changes thru the production year?

  16. According to "The 1932 Ford Book" from the Early Ford V8 Club there were 8 changes to the firewall. The good news is that they all functionally interchangeable across all of the p***enger and commercial vehicles produced throughout the year.

Who did you order the insulated panel from?

  20. Do you know about the special bolts for the insulation pads and the hat shaped washers for the ones that need to be removed (the throttle etc)?
