SoCal sells a replacement front crossmember for Model As that has 7 degrees of caster built into it. The guy on the phone led me to believe that the stock Henry crossmember had caster built into it but it seems pretty flat to me. Does anyone know if there is actually a difference between the SoCal stamping and the original, as far as caster is concerned? They also offer a crossmember that adds an extra one inch drop by raising the spring pad, but I already have a 4" drop axle 47" kp centres, for this build and will be running fenders and presume I may have issues if I chose the extra drop crossmember. I was planning on running a non reverse eye original style front spring. Comments? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I'm 99% sure that stock model A is 7 degrees. That's the premise I've been welding stuff together under.
Ok thanks, perhaps someone else will chime in on the subject. This is how their description of it reads on their website, it kind of leads one to believe that they have reworked it so that it's better than the original, caster wise, but maybe not? 28-32 Ford Style Front Crossmember This stamped steel front crossmember, with stock-location radiator mounts, lowers your rod 1 inch. The centre has a 7-degree rake to eliminate shackle bind and improve caster adjustment. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
