Sorry Jody I don't have any leads on him. After early '65 seeing the car run (with alot of problems) at Island and a few bits in Mid-Eastern Drag News back then I never heard of the team again. Only in the 1990's when some photos started appearing that vendors were billing as Dyno Don photos did the car and Matt Fenton come to mind again. They were all from the Balto.-DC area I believe. In the 1964 Mid-Eastern Drag News Annual (actually all '63 stuff) there's a shot of Ivan Jordan with a '63 S/S (lightweight?) Ford. I forget where he was from.

Good pics Bob! Sam Auxier's Bondy Long (NASCAR GN owner) ex-TASCA Ford Mustang.
Other than the open competition S/S-F/X meets in the sixties I thought the NASCAR Ultra Stocks (and later incarnations) were the best. They ran classes that covered the evolution from S/S to F/X to flopper, injected F/C all in one event. They ran classes that allowed for even competition between all brands and two Eliminators ... a handicap and a heads-up eliminator. I loved it. Too bad it only lived a short while.

Yes, I saw the color shot too. I think it was lined up against an unlettered white or cream color A/FX Dodge.

I believe the multi striped T-Bolt was Thunderhawk out of Hawkinson Ford in Oak Lawn, IL. Not the same cars. Thunderhawk, a four speed car, was the "donor" when the dealership built their 65 A/FX High Riser Mustang HT.

The fronts on the car in the posted pics are glass or did I misread something? They sure look like there is tin showing in some of the scuffed spots!

    Yes on that color shot.
Ron Pellegrini right? I communicated with Ron for awhile about 5-6 years ago. I may have his communications somewhere but I think they got lost in one of my moves along with his contacts. I believe he may still be a member of the 1320 email list. Ron told me that they used the Hawkinson T-Bolt and also had a "truckload" of T-Bolt parts that they got from Ford to build the Mustang and possibly more of them. As I recall he said they were trying to get a contract from Ford to build A/FX Mustangs.

Thanks for the closer shot ... in the other shot the red-orange looked like it was sanded rather than trick paint. Lace and trick paint stuff more or less started around '68-'69 didn't it? I'd bet the AWB work on the fenders was before that though. Interesting. No idea on what car they were from.

This and the next post deal with a car that I saw in '68-9 a little past our thread's criteria but being a T-Bolt I'm posting it in the hopes an ID might be made. I shot this car at Englishtown in '68 or '69 and only saw it run once ... all over the track I might add. The name on the sill was "Fat Boy" The engine was by NJ Ford man Wally Lynn. The picture can get no sharper I'm afraid. Anyone know the car's history?

Another one I've had in my files for a long time but know nothing about. This was in some unknown to me now drag newspaper in one of these tongue in cheek type humor columns. I doubt the name here has any real connection with the car. It looks like the location is one of the Daytona-Deland meets, maybe Capitol near DC in '65-'66, maybe even '67.

Gas Ronda and wrench Cliff Brien with the brand new T-Bolt in late 1963. Note the cloverleaf hood.

Hubert Platt's Georgia Shaker 1963 Z-11. This is a great "Southern Style Super Stocker". I'd bet that Hubert's Z-11 was THE most wrinked up Z-11 that there ever was. I love it.

    Joel,

The Bill Clay car has the Shaker beat hands down! I'll post a pic later.
Also, I came across some info on the Nicholson 61 car I'll post later too.

As I recall this scan is from the cover of the Dragway 42 Invitational program 1963. Frank Sanders at Beeline Dragway, Scottsdale, AZ 1963. Probably the 1963 AHRA Winter Championships.

It looks like the rear quarter reads "Black Jack". There is another T-Bolt with a different lettering scheme also called Black Jack. I think Glen Frazer drove it. The car was out of MD and had a straight axle. It is my understanding this is the King Ford T-Bolt, from Essex, MD.
Possibly one and the same cars, just a different time period.

The strange thing is that dealership never received nor sold another T-Bolt in the 1964 MY.

A few dealerships received two T-Bolts, some even three: Bob Ford Inc. and Tasca Ford.

Yes, Ron Pellegrini. I e-mailed him not too long ago. He mentioned about using Thunderhawk to build their 65 A/FX Mustang. He then approached Ford and had hopes to build 100 of them ala Dearborn Steel Tubing Co. However, it didn't happen.

I think Ford already had made their plans to build twelve or so, with either SOHC or High Riser engines, and focus with the Drag Council team. The Bob Ford 427 HT Mustang was at the 1964 Summer Nationals in Indy.

Speaking of Mason-Dixon Dragway, does anyone remember Pappy Boring's GTO "The Warrior" or Terry Hilliard's Mustang "Mr. Clean"?

    If so, any pictures?

I spent a lot of days at the track with these two fellows.
