Stockton Wheel: Anyone else have bad experiences with them (like me)?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Comet, Jun 4, 2005.

  1. i ordered a set of chrome reversed wheels from stockton a few years ago and it took them six months to get them done. the chrome in the centers was a little weak, but other than that they were fine. i didn't care about the centers as i used merc caps on them. i will be replacing them with americans as soon as the new black walls come in if someone needs a set of cr's. and www's. and doesn't want to wait.

If any of you guys want chrome smoothies do not go to Wheel Vintiques they want about a hundred a wheel with no center cap and six weeks to deliver go to Americas tire store same exact wheels for $79.00 each you get the cap with it and usually get them the following week!

I have ordered 2 sets of wheels from them. First set came on time. Second set, he said "IN STOCK READY TO SHIP" took 6 weeks to get them. The suck.

    Don't buy from Stockton!!!:( :(

I had a very similar experience with them. I ordered a set of milners for my Biscayne last year. I wanted to have them by Memorial Day for a show we have in this area, so I ordered them in the middle of April. The guy taking the order seemed to know his shit, suggesting what backspacing would give me the look I was after and even gave a deal on tires w/the wheels. He said I would have the wheels in 3-4 weeks. After 6 weeks, I called to see what was up and they said they were having problems getting the rear tires. About a week after that the tires showed up at my house(evidently the supplier sent them to me by mistake or some shit like that), so I called and xplained that I had the tires and they said my wheels would be shipped the next day. After a week and a half I still had no wheels so i called again and found out that the wheels were still in stockton! Needless to say, they found out how happy I was. The guy on the phone told me he would personally see to it they were shipped the next day and even called me in the morning to tell me they had gone out(so they at least had one point in their favor).
After a few days I finally had my wheels. Like the other mentioned, the chrome in the centers is weak, have to polish it every time I wash otherwise it starts to rust. So, here we are, middle of July, finally have the wheels, stories over right? wrong! (btw, sorry for the long post, but this still pisses me off evey time I think of it!) Now I had to go get the rear tires mounted and balanced. I didn't mention it earlier, but I had ordered cheater slicks for the rear after being assured that they would fit. I wish I would have taken a picture of these sorry ass retreaded pieces of shit! I told them when I saw them that they wern't what I wanted and they looked way to tall and they said to try them and if I kept them they would discount the price. So I tried, they didn't fit, and they said to send them back for a refund. I sent them back and played the waiting game again. I checked the tracking on the ups site daily and two days after they showed them as being delivered I called. They said they never showed up!! I gave them the tracking number and told them to check again. They still say the tires never came to them. So, then I had to file a claim with ups for the supposedly missing tires. They paid, but I don' think they should have had to. I called the local BBB and they did some checking and said that there were numerous complaints against Stockton. I will never do business with them again, hell, I can't even look at their ads anymore.

I also had a bad experience with Stockton.....I odered a set of steelies for my Pickup truck after being told that they were in stock.

After about 6 phone calls and nothing but bullshit excuses from them I finally just said #uck-it and gave up.I mean they must coach there guys on what excuses to use.

5 different guys gave me 5 different excuses.......No shit...

Well sad to say, 12 weeks later they arrived with a shitty powdercoat job and welding flash all over the rims.

I paid a ton of money upfront to get these made rims quickly. I ended up missing autorama because of them. I'll NEVER use or recommend them to anyone EVER!!!!!

Yes they do in fact SUCK. On two occasions they have flat out lied to me. If I was inclined toward terrorism there would probably be a vacant lot there now. They seem to enjoy wasting peoples time and just selling there off the shelf crap.

    OH....MY...GAWD!
That was like breaking up with a psycho girlfriend that won't go away. But believe it or not, I have still been dealing with this ordeal up until today! I ordered on March 30. Today, I finally was able to cancel my order. I'm done with Stockton-FOREVER!

Ok, Tman and Wheel Vintiques, here I come. I'm PMing you to buy a set of chrome steelies, bullet centers and acorn nuts. Hopefully my experience will be significantly better with you. :D

Where do I begin, I ordered chrome exchanges for my F-150, on 3/9/05, I was charged to what I will call credit card #1, I finally recieved wheels on 4/4/05. I should be satisfied right? No, I open the boxes two of the wheels had been chromed in bent condition. I contacted Stockton, who agreed to have the wheels picked up and ship me new ones right away. NOT, they waited until those wheels showed up had them straightened, and sent back on 5/10/05. After fussing on the phone to someone who claimed to be in charge, I didn't want to pay the shipping to send the cores back because they took too long. We finally compromised with each party being responsible for half. Great huh!, Hell no!!!, they never sent the UPS labels as promised. Then in the early part of August I got a call from them wanting the cores. I had to remind them of the deal, again. They sent the labels about two weeks later. I figured hell I'm busy with life at my house I'll take my time getting them to the UPS hub. About two- three weeks later which is today my wife calls frantic saying that STOCKTON WHEEL has charge $500 to her account, which is credit card #2, that I use occassionally. I call them to ask what in the @#$% is going on. I was told I didn't do what I was suppose to do. So they decided to charge me the fee of their core charge from their supplier. Now get this credit card #2 I used with them one time for lugs I purchased for $55. I purchased the wheels on credit card #1. Which I think is illegal for them to do charge me w/o auth. Anyhow they are suppose to credit it back. I WILL NEVER EVER EVER DEAL WITH THESE ASSHOLES EVER. I had so much business to send them, they blew their F#$%ing lunch money. They are very lucky I'm in Maryland and they are in Cali. Use caution when dealing with out of state vendors. KGreen:mad:

You know what-last week I called my credit card co. and they STILL have not credited my acct. In July my cc co. sent me the paperwork and afidavit (sp?) to process a disputed charge. I got sick of dealing with them. Once this is all over, I'm writing the BBB in their area. I would do it now, but somehow I feel this ordeal is not over and more to the story is yet to come. Stockton Wheel Sucks Ass! Any HAMBer that reads this thread and still decides to order from them, gets what they deserve. Don't say you haven't been warned. Bad service, bad product.

Well, scratch one vendor off my list too. Which kinda brings on a problem you fellas may be able to help me with? I had called Stockton and asked if this modification could be pulled off - but now I'm really wondering if I'd ever get the modified rims back - or if I'd be happy with the result.

I've got Hudsons, and want to keep the original dog dish hubcaps. I need the spring clips on my rims to hold the hubcaps. Can I find outer rims to weld back to my centers? I've got 6" wide rims now, but want 7-7.5". I can use Mopar police rims to get the width - but there goes the original hubcap option.

    Any ideas?

Am I understanding you correct, I can get custom OEM type rims from WHEELVINTIQUES? With the flat springs to hold the OEM hubcaps? If so - problem solved. Thanks!

I did what tony bones suggested, and all I got was

I think they would be able to answer/help you out,I'd give em a call.Good Luck.

  23. I bought a set of 16" smoothies from Stockton 4 years ago. Good price I thought. My card was charged. I waited and waited. I was promised and promised. They finally showed up without the caps. I called and called. They where on back order. They finally showed up. After the first winter in storage, the rims where rusted. Stockton sucks....

  24. Add one more bad experience from Stockton.
I ordered two wheels, simple 15" GM centres, narrow-ish even (I just couldn't find 4 ¾" BC 15 inch steel wheels).
Never came, claimed order "lost", I hadda fax out my record from the credit card before a refund.

HOW do they stay in business??? Suck a lot of magazine DICK???

Due to a thread about paulsen and wheel smith being crappy I ordered a front pair of red oem's for my wifes car from Rob at stocton wheel. He said six weeks and they arrived today just over four weeks so no complaints here.

For what it's worth, over the last 10-12 years I have dealt with and purchased a bunch of different wheels and wheel and tire combos from Coker Tire and have always been extremely satisfied with their service, quality, and price. You might check them out before you decide. It's rare these days when you can deal with a company and always get what you are promised and more.

So many companies have so much business that screwing up 10% (or more) of their orders just doesn't seem to bother them. I used to sell cars at a local dealer...when the biz was sold to a big conglomerate, my new boss told me he figures he's got one shot at everybody...and if they get screwed it's no big deal 'cuz there will always be someone else to take their place...that outfit lasted a little over 2 years in my home town...

Just received my Henry 16" multilug's, look good and showed up 5 weeks after I placed the order. The sales guy made a comment that The guys in the back seem to get those wheels out faster than others FWIW. I will have powder coat done locally.

Chalk up another bad experience from me with Stockton Wheel. In the late nineties, I ordered 4 Rallye wheels. 2@15x8's and 2@15x4's. When they arrived the rear two were powder coated grey and the front two were obviously spray painted silver. I had to argue with Frank on the phone about how vastly different they looked from each other while he kept insisting they were all powder coated at the same time. No possible way. They were two different colors and textures. Anyway he agrees to take them back and send me two more that will match the rears. I ship them back and a week later I get two more that I think were the two I sent back to him. I wish I would've marked them somehow. Anyway, after arguing again with this Frank guy, I was finally able to ship back the spray painted wheels(front side only painted by the way) and get a refund. After reading this thread, I'm should feel lucky about the refund. Any way, I'm a huge fan of the steel wheel/dog dish cap look, but I will NEVER deal with them again for trying to pull that crap on me.

Guess I was lucky, I ordered two chrome smoothies from Stockton Wheel, standard GM centers, 14" wide and special backspacing for my bucket. All was well, backspace was perfect. Wheels are now 6 years old and chrome still looks great. I don't remember any long delays.

But thanks for the heads up, sounds like things have changed!
