Me too, but its up to the Users that post on this Thread...

BTW, its funny to me that people concentrate on what I said about getting Racial, and not about the tough guy talk ( all the inventive ways people think these thiefs should be punished )

At least as many Posts like that have been Deleted off this Thread.
That kind of stuff just doesnt belong here either...

Great work, Nick! You da MAN!

Do we know how the thieves knew about the truck/the story of how they were able to swipe it? Hopefully those turds are part of a ring of classic car thieves that can now get outed and crushed like the vermin they are.

Once again, AWESOME WORK NICK! And congrats to the owners on the recovery of their family jewel.

    :)

Congrats on getting the car back. Regarding
the issue of stolen cars crossing the border
into Mexico. It would seem that part of the
problem has as much to do with U.S authorities
and U.S border officials and regulation as
the Mexican side. A few years ago, I bought
an OT '74 Pinto 'hot rod' via an ad on the net
from Portland Oregon and drove it 3500 miles
back to my home in Ontario, Canada. Before I
could cross the U.S/Canada border at Detroit
Michigan, and bring the car into Canada, I had
to have both a lien and a 'police wanted' check
done on the car *by U.S Customs* - and show
both the title and bill of sale for the car to U.S
Customs and have them check, approve
and stamp them , BEFORE Canada Customs
would clear the car and let me bring it into
Canada. Without all the paperwork first being
checked, stamped and signed-off on by U.S.
Customs, Canada Customs would have turned
me and the car back to the U.S until the U.S
Customs cleared the car. Why doesn't
the U.S government make a similar arrangement
with Mexican government to jointly approve and
control the import and export of cars going in either
direction across the border like Canada and the
    U.S already do.

Is it still the case that this is the truck in the photograph and they are certain that this is the recovered truck? The poor thing sure looks worse for wear from the photos of it. I hope this is still a good news deal but I have a few fears. Please update if you know.

Yep, my post was deleted, and I was just making a joke. In retrospect it had no bearing on the original subject line, and I can see why it got deleted. My bad, no heartburn here.

  12. I don't intend for this to start an off-topic discussion and/or close the thread, but since you brought it up ...

I think there's a major difference. The tough talk probably isn't offensive to a group of people, and particularly not since it's aimed at "thieves". A racial comment can be offensive to a group of people. I don't care for the tough talk, but I see it as a minor annoyance because I see it as being just Internet tough talk. The racial comments just look bad, period.

Also, I think the HAMB slogan "Steal our stuff we'll kick your teeth in" doesn't deter the tough talk, and there's no specific rule against tough talk.

I brought it up so people know why they received Infractions /Bans.

Threatning violence has never been acceptable on the HAMB, dating back from the old Germ/Macus wars and farther back than that...

If anything more needs to be said on the subject, take it to the Q & S Forum.

Because the next one here will kill this Thread.

  14. LOL! Mine got bumped too! At least I'm in good company, Eli. :D Guess I stepped over a line. I'll tread more carefully next time.

Congratulations on finding/recovering the panel. Did they wreck it/damage it any other than f'ing up the paint? it looks like the rear bumper is/was bent but that was maybe just the angle of the pic.

Hope they are punished to the fullest extent allowed.

Great job Nick, man it's good to hear they got caught. Just another reason the border needs to be blocked from the Pacific to the Gulf of Mexico. Outstanding...I know I needed a bit of good news for a change!!

  17. The problem is with the Mexican Borders. It wouldn't matter if it had to go through a US inspection first. If you have ever driven into Mexico, they just wave everyone in without even having you roll your window down. I sure hope these guys actually do time. Up here in WA, they let them out instantly until they get caught 7 times and then its just a small amount of time. Thats 7 times that they are caught!!! How many cars do they steal and get away with? Like I said, thieves need to pay and pay dearly. Its very rare to get a car back so close to the border. Glad the HAMB helped out!!!

Glad to hear one got found and the guilty party's got arrested and will hopefully do time. One thing I'm curious about. Wouldn't a car like this be worth alot less in mexico if that is where it was headed? Also wouldn't you think that a car like this would almost have to be stolen to order? I would think that an OT later model pickup would be worth alot more down there than a 37 ford panel? Not known for good roads or a suitable climate for a solid front axle no air con truck right? Correct me if I'm wrong but I imagine a guy like Sled is picking cars up for a fraction of what they would go for in America? Right?

As someone who has travelled to mexico, I think I can say that the old car hobby is quite active there as well. Most rodders, collectors down there are doing it legal but some...well, you know. Just like in the US and Oz, there are scum. Mexico isn't the back water third world country most think it is. Although the poor areas exist, there are also areas of affluence.

Let the truth be told about who stole it and where it was going. THE TRUTH IS THE TRUTH !!!!!! Mexico is the only country that I have been in where you have to give their police 20 dollars for a tail light that is in good working condition. GO FIGURE !!!

somebody in the dmv is working with them and i hope they hang them out to dry with the other trash. you know what would be messed up is if they did it with one of those so called historical documents you see for sale.
