A friend of mine had her Impala stolen last night. It had a club and a well-hidden kill switch. Bastards.

    Details:
60 Impala 4 door hardtop. White, with black top and original interior. It has (had?) lots of clean chrome and stainless parts.
    Original straight six and trans.

She lives in LA (near Studio City).

If you come up with any info, please let me know. She's a great woman and deserves to not have her car fucked with.

    email me at: stolenimpala@liberalredneck.org

    Thanks,
    Tackett

I'll try and post a picture a bit later.

Will keep an eye out up here, just in case. I just went through this, not too long ago (lost my dads model A pu)...
And Gary Denshams trailer was ripped off this last weekend...Now I'm hyper-paranoid about theft...Good luck.....

I hate to say it, but it probably got stolen for its parts. I think this will become more commonplace as parts get more and more expensive (wait, is this the second time I've said this)?

    Hopefully it'll turn up though.

Yeah. She was sick today, and didn't go outside 'till 4:00 - so they have a big head start on her. With all that nice chrome and stainless, we assume it was for parts. It's a 4 door, so most of it will get thrown away.

Thanks jangleguy. Where in Southern Oregon? I grew up in Grants Pass (and left a few days after graduation).

I'm in Bakersfield, I have friends in the local Police and Sheriff's Dept. I'll have them and all the rod shops/guys/junkyards around here keep an eye out for it! I just had my ashtray stolen outta my 58 Chev. A week later this guy comes to my door, says I wanna buy that car. I said no, he says well I have a 2 door and I need some parts off yers....guess who had my ashtray! I've never run so fast in my life trying to catch that dirty SOB...got my ashtray though!!

Here's a bad picture of it...

Thanks everybody, I've forwarded your emails and sent her the link here. She's pretty torn up about it, as she has a lot of time and money into this car. I'm sure you all know what it's like to be attached to a car like that...

Yo, WheelTramps - no it isn't that Jen.

It's got to be an Overhaulin' deal.

It usually does happen to people that are great and not deserving of such a thing.

If you can get me the vin and a better pic of the car I'll get them posted out to the right people. I also talked to my friend who's a commander at CHP. He said he'll post it. If the car comes anywhere near the Grapevine or North of, they'll know! Good luck. Email me if it's easier to send pics and the vin. What can I say..I'm too fond of the Late Great Chevs!

I'd check out the local low-rider shops.

Highly desirable car in the low-rider community.

Conversly speaking, If the car was "Overhauled", I would be severly pissed if they turned my cherry, vintage ride into a Pro-touring fag-mobile.

It would be nice for someone to come in and finace the rest of my project but in someways it still wouldnt feel like it was your car when they were done. I feel so bad for that girl , I hate people screwing with other peoples cars.

Oh gimme a break, I dont care for the huge wheeled, billit all that, stuff either guys, but i would freak if one of my cars got overhauled. Something about it all being done, and pretty much free(?) to have a car like that would be nice. Granted not in my greatest taste, but drivable and looking nice, hell if anything, for the resale value, sell the damn thing then buy or build somehting you really like.

other than the wheels onthat GMC pickup, the yellow one, i REALLY REALLY liked it. i loved the 55 chev fender fronts on it. Change the wheels to some Good steelies, and whites or something and woulda changed the whole look.

That blue falcon they did want even all that bad.

you guys thing the "steetrodders" stick there nose up at us, and some of you are no better than they are. Get a grip.

Hopefully it was taken by kids that just wanted to joyride...

I would hate to think of someone disassembling my car to send the parts all over the world...

There is a special place in hell for those chop shop guys... they will prolly have to work on Renault LeCars for all eternity. That would be a fitting punishment!

Well I do like watching the show, and some of the builds are cool, but I know what I want to do with my car. I like working on and doing stuff, I wouldn’t want some other guys to come in and do all the “fun” stuff, its my car! Sorry to get this off topic, its not going to help get the car back any sooner.

Well, at least it gets it back to the top so that folks can see it and keep an eye out for the car or some really nice parts that 'pop up' on the scene tomorrow.

This has got me freking out, as soon as my Buick is able to move under it's own power i am installing redundant hidden kill switches, dual batery disconects, and i will be keeping the coil wire in my pocket. [IMG]

My friend had his 40 ford stolen in broad daylight out of the back yard on the Southside of Birmingham. Neighbors watched it... they just figured he had sold the car. It didn't run... the thieves pulled up a trailer and loaded it and hauled it off at 11 o'clock in the morning. Neighborhood watch doesn't work unless the neighbors actually talk to each other and know what's going on.
