Craigslist, Ebay...and the local s****yards. The thieves may be wise to the fact that a nice straight coupe body would look odd going across the scales. A trailer loaded with a bunch of sheetmetal, steel wheels and a motor may not.

Man seein that makes me sick to my stomach! When my sons car was stolen it cost me 65 bucks to get it out of the pound. When i ask them why I had to pay for my stolen car they told me they could have left it where they found it. They didnt even clean the syringes out of it! Nice people ;-)

Makes you want to get a junker and leave it out with those syringes in it. Put some hot pepper in them or something so when they reuse them (because they will) it will burn them up! ***holes.

Steal our stuff, we'll kick your teeth in!

That's awful. I can't even imagine the empty, helpless feeling your buddy must be going through.

Saddest part of it all is is that those parts are generally only desireable to a niche market. If somebody stole it and stripped it for parts for themselves, then it was a fellow rodder. That's even more ****ed up than some crack-head stealing it for a another fix

  6. Also, on e-bay there might be some stuff popping up.
    Any before pictures???

So my ch***is is done but in need an engine and trans and interior and id like fenders and.. So whe steal this car and **** the axles mine is different they wont work.. Id sure be looking local.. at least statewide.. Im ata loss why it even turned up .. **** its an old car they got ***les and numbers for them all day long..

Your buddy needs to find out the area were it was found more then likely how ever stole it parted it out close to there house unless they towed to were it was found. Just a thought .

That's exactly why I overinsure my cars. If you steal it, keep it! I would rather start over than to have to endure the pain of rebuilding something that some sick **** did that to!

Thats pretty ****ty, Im glad that he found the coupe but feel bad about the condition. I hope the guy that stole it tries to sell some of the parts to a local hamber and gets the HELL beat out of them. At least he got back the most important part in good shape. Lots of thieves steal what they want and then ruin the rest just to be a ***......

    Hmmm, freaking odd.

The body is one of the things people would want the most I would think. A few little changes and a chop later and you would not know it was the same one.

I figured if anything that is what a person would have been after when the car was stolen.

Fenders and such gone...I smell something that stinks of going to use the parts on a car that needed them.

What normal car jacker is gonna want the mill that was in that car and the fenders in todays world?

Texas and Oklahoma swap meets would not be the place to unload that stuff...it will draw attention.

The whole thing just plain ****s. I feel for Jim and I wish we all knew what the hoods were up to on this one.

Yes, it's sad, but what happened has happened. Hopefully the criminals will be cought and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Having said that, if he had full coverage he has something to rebuild and enough insurance money to do it even better than before.

For his sake all the other stuff is easy to get. The body looks good and they don't make the originals of that no more.

Nice to see the justice system in this country still works. Works as in "Nothing we can do at the current time" and then step 2 "We are sorry to inform you....."
I agree. I dont know what's worse. Losing the car (keeping that good memory) or physically seeing those THOUSANDS (because we all know we spend THOUSANDS of hours on our Rod's) of hours destroyed by some piece of ****.

Tired of not seeing justice served. I've been robbed/Broken into over 5 times in 4 years. NO RESULTS!

I'm speachless....I can't begin to imagine how that would feel. I'd like to hear the rest of the story on where the remains were found, and who's fingernails we need to pull out with pliers, etc. Any help Jim needs rebuilding the car, I'm there.

it seems that the heat was on so they dumped it ..............its someone close......... i do believe in karma and what you do will come back to you......hopefully a slow painful death

  25. My stomach turned when I saw that.

I once picked up my stripped 65 Olds 442 Convertible from the impound yard after it had been recovered. It's a ****py feeling.

Chin up. You might catch a break and get some parts back. I was so mad after my car was stolen I was determined to find some answer. I caught a break which eventually led to my missing parts. It was an improbable story but the universe works in weird ways.

I can't believe that he got anything back, they must have been in a hurry. There isn't a piece on that car that can't be hawked easily. Congratulations on getting the car back at all, even in it's current condition.

    My take....

    Inside Job.

Perhaps not the actual fella' who owns that car, but I'd start from the inside and work my way out. I'm willing to bet someone new the guy, new the car, and took it.

Odds are this aint random. I'd ask around.....
