Story goes that the man in the US patent office in the late 1800s/early 1900s closed the office for the summer because all of the new ideas had been thought of. Nice trick JonnyO. I think I'll 'borrow' that from you for Court's truck. Brian26, I won't be borrowing that for Court's truck but it is still way cool! If you want to try it on an AD Chevy...
Looking at other people's creative solutions in a big part of going to traditional car shows, a lot of ideas in one place.
**** no man, you'd better steal it, otherwise my battery will end up in my radiator waiting for you to bring it back. Don't leave too much thread on the bolt coming through the floor, that way when you make 4-5 revolutions of the turnbuckle, it will pop off and you can slide the battery out... all by hand!
Brian, Can you elaborate on the bed of your blazer? I'm putting together an early blazer with a reverse open hood and I like your tailgate and tonnue cover. Tell us more. Any photos? Thanks
Theres an idea I always wanted to steal out of a von Dutch book I was reading once. I just need to find a car to put it in. He put airplane controls on a center console. it was throttle controls from an airplane WWII bomber i think and from what I remember it was throttle, choke, and one or two other options it was long ago and don't remember what all the controls where. But I do remember it was aluminum and polished and looked ***s.
Pretty simple really. Get 3 tailgate covers from MAR-K in OkC. The ones without the chevy emblem. steel frame underneath, use the 67-72 pu hood hinges for the hinge(i would like to find something more precise but with this geometry). A sheet of stainless down the middle, the top half of a narrowed rear bumper from a 67-72 truck. Use the third cover for the tailgate.-----make your own frame for the underneath so you can flush the edges with the bed. A skin over the old tailgate will no be flush. Stainless fasteners (****on head allen) for the exposed fastener heads. Be sure to insulate since it will be noisy without it.
I would steal the "spare plug holder" idea, but I already stole the "set up your motor so your plugs don't foul " idea. Those race car guys think of everything.
