stopping aluminum head corrosion

bought some flathead aluminum heads have some minor corrosion in the water jackets. not going to run them right away. is there something I should rinse or clean them with, thinking like mag wheel cleaner then washing in soda water to neutralize the acid. What does anyone else use if anything ?

Don't use copper head gaskets. They form a battery and eat the heads. Get some BEST GASKETS gaskets made from steel/carbon

 

Some people use a little bit of machinests lube in there anti freeze to prevent head corrosion!!

 

What is machinist's lube, I've never heard of it? Brand name please?

 

Remington the gun company make a spray lube/protectant that's called Remoil. It's a thin spray like CRC/WD40.
It works good.
Brodix Aluminun cylinder heads says to combat electrolsis and errosion run a ground strap from the heads to a bellhousing bolt and from bellhousing to frame.

You say they are not going to be run right away. If they are dry, they won't get any worse. It is when you have antifreeze or water in them that they oxidize. Or setting in a damp box of garbage in the ba*****t of you house.

Read somewhere that the orange antifreeze is supposed to cut down on electralisys(sp?) between iron & aluminum engine parts. Anyone know for sure?

 

most new antifreeze is formulated for aluminum as 99% of cars out there have aluminum radiators now.

I wonder why brodix thinks you need ground straps from the heads to the bellhousing??? you've got how many studs on each head to ground it to the block??
