Well as some of you may have seen, I was officially overhauled by my friends. I bought a really nice, 99% stock '53 Bel Air 4 door back in January 2011. It was a really clean looking Bel Air. I cruised it to The Rose City Round-up,had a great time but had some engine issues on the way home. My good friend (yetiskustoms here on The Hamb) offered me to take the car to his shop and work on it. My plan was to do some body mods and swap out the motor. Things were pretty smooth for a while and the car was on its way.I ended up opening a Barber Shop and was unable to spend as much time out working on my car as I wanted. It was about a year and a half and the car was apart, had a new/ used motor in it and needed buttoned up. The bodywork was started but VERY far from primer and paint. I had already missed driving it to the 2012 Rose City Roun-up and didn't want to miss 2013. Yetiskustoms was very good about keeping me motivated to "stay with it" and not give up. He said he would make it his mission to make sure the car was at the 2013 Rose City Round-up. I should have known!!!Every weekend from November through part of January yetiskustoms, along with other members of Vintage Rollers, spent their time stripping the car to bare metal, bodyworking it, priming/sanding and then painting it. They also got it running and driving for me! The entire time I had no idea. I cut their hair and talked about the things I hoped to do to the car whenever I got a chance to work on it! They all played along as if nothing was going on behind my back!!It was last Saturday that everything came together and I found out how good of friends, BROTHERS, I have in my life! I was told my wife, daughter and I were meeting yetiskustoms and his family for dinner. I left work and headed home as fast as I could not wanting to be late. As I got close to the house, I notised a ton of cars parked all over the place. I thought to myself "someone's having a party!". As I turned the corner and came into view of my house, i noticed about 30 people standing in my front yard! Weird, we're supposed to be going to dinner. Why are people at my house? I was pretty confused and shocked all at once. I recognised that those people were The Vintage Rollers and their famalies. Thats when it hit me that they were there for me, unreal! At that same moment, I saw the green metalflake roof of my 53 shining in the sun and it hit me!!!! "What have they done?"True friendship and brotherhood was something I have never experienced before! These guys and their famalies are the most amazing people I have ever met in my life. What they did and the sacrifices they made for me is something I can't put into words! I am forever in debted to them all! Here are some pictures for you all to look at. Thanks to Vintage*Rollers and their famalies.

Special thanks to yetiskustoms, 54below and shyson.

Awesome story and all too rare these days. In a world where everyone seems to be in it for themselves, this story gives me renewed hope in humanity. Enjoy your ride!

Thanks for the replys and comments on my car! These guys did a great job of building the car exactly how I dreamed. Talking the the guys, they had a really good time working together and building their friendship along the way. It is too bad that the world isn't full of guys like them. Could you imagine?

  14. That's really incredible, man! Sometimes I'm amazed by the goodness and generosity of people. Pay it forward and keep it going.

    Your Chevy looks good!

Ya know, I told them that haircuts would be on me and they all made the statement "you can't pay your bills by giving away haircuts!". We'll see but that's the least I could do for them!

I forgot to include a couple of pics of the car as it looked when I got it. It was too much of a stocker for me and I had dreamed it would look like it does now! I do plan on 15" chrome wheels with wide whites and some lake pipes down the side.

  28. Tricky 53,
You friends or brothers whichever the case may be have done well by you or so it appears. You are a lucky man.

my brothers have offered to tune me up if I didn't get my shit together, I don't think that it has anything to do with building me a car.
