Nice. They're even the first design header castings that aren't reproduced. I bought a N.O.S. Fenton valve cover/side cover/intake package at Carlisle years ago for what seemed to be big $$$ at the time.....$200!

  9. simular topic, but what about distributors..... running a stock 54 vac advance with a petronix in it. i was reading in a different older post about the mallory dual point having a better or different advance curve, would i be better picking one of them up and putting the pertronix in it to get the better curve? basicly stock 235, fenton, vette cam, and will be switching back to the 2x1 ellis but using holley 894's instead.

I would think they are rare. I could be wrong. I've only ever seen a few of them. I wish I could get my hands on some. I do know that a set went on ebay for 5 or 6 hundred dollars a few weeks ago.

  11. Way cool manifolds . I've had couple of those over the years that I wish I hadn't parted with ( rodders lament) Currently I have a 3X1 on my 292 and a 1X4 with a 2X2 adapter for my 250 . I love inliners . I may start looking for a 2x1 or 2X2 for my 216

"Hot" Fentons fit 235-261 only unless later manifold used with ported 216 head.
Anyone here have a set of EH 500 GMC 3 bolt outlet Fentons ?

No, I've never heard of three bolt Fenton headers. I've got Fenton catalogs from '53, '56, and '59, and none of them show such a thing. Do you have some?

Doesn't Tom Langdon at Stovebolt sell Nicson repops (minus the Nicson script)? I thought those had the three bolt flanges at the head pipes.

Yeah, I picked up just the rear header like what you're talking about, and will use in in conjunction with a stock manifold with the rear half removed.

Not seen many of those exhaust manifolds. No argument in calling them rare. What carbs are you running on that ellis? Nice looking engine. Period cool.

Heathen, the EH 500s are listed in the '59 catalog available as headers only but no picture or illustration. I'm going on what I've heard from old timers on the 3 bolt flange - they may have been 2 bolt. I've always just slotted the end holes on Chev headers for use on GMCs with no gasket problem after some port matching.

  18. Thanks. They were W1's, ran them for about 3 years, rebuilt them, had a shop rebuild them next, but always had problems. she's sporting a offy 3x1 with leaky rochesters....plans for this spring will be the ellis (again) with holley 894's.

Well I blasted the Ellis this weekend. It looks killer. It looks pretty good on the old 235 as well. I might keep it and I might not. I haven't made up my mind yet. I still need to get the fin fixed but moving sucks and I will just have to wait.

Here's my Edmunds 2X2. Soon to be mated with my matched set of Zenith 10738A's and mounted on a Chevy 216.

Well I have been looking for a nice dual intake for my 235 but have come up short. So I'm talking to my Grandfather who originally owned my 50 and I tell him what I have been looking for and he tells me he has one. So I go to his house and he pulls out a Edmunds 2x2 intake with an old Holley 94 attached. It looks to be for a 216. My question is how good will this setup run on a 235 with the 2x2. Would that be too much fuel for this engine? Or would it be a better setup than a 1x1 intake if setup right. If so what would be the best carbs to run on this intake?

I bought this Nicson side draft manifold.:D Have had 3 Carter yh's on the shelf for awhile, this could be where to hang them. The manifold has 2 bolt carb flanges though. An adapter could be made easy enough but does any one have info on side draft 2 bolt flange carbs?

That intake was cast with the idea of using three Zenith side drafts that were standard equipment on '50s International C.O.E. trucks.

Hard to get info on that one, as there are no numbers on this particular head to trace.

It sems as though some were cast without numbers on them
