Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Stevie G, May 24, 2004.

  1. On the 30's and 40's buicks, how much difference between the big eight (320) and the smaller one?
I'm interested in rather or not the intakes can be swapped.

Don't think they will interchange. I have a 2x2 factory intake and factory headers from a 41 and my understanding they will not fit on the small engine.

I know that the factory twin intake will not fit on the big motor from the 50's.

Stevie G If that is for the 248 are you going to bid?
I don't want to bid if you are ..
I asked him about the size and will see what he says.
248 should be about 31" long

My exhaust manifold measures 31 3/8 overall. The intake is 25 5/8 overall.

Jdee, Is that your motor? Any more pics or info on it? I have looked a little but have never found much on modifications or speed equipment for straight 8s.

Mine is stock, But I would like to make some headers and get an Edmunds for it. I had a 41 248 set up and it fit, But would really like that Aluminum intake. the 248s are hard to find.
    I have seen a few 320s before.
I'm still messing with the chop on mine...

cool thanks for the links. I like the height of your chop. I wonder how hard it would be to make an intake. The inline six book I have by Leo Santucci talks a little bit about making intakes.

My guess is 320 due to the lenght. Mine came off a 41 and its 25 5/8.
