    *SIGH*

    I miss Germ.

The new touchy-feeling free love HAMB kinda makes me sad.

  2. You are showing the true spirit of gr*** roots, innovative hot rodding. I may prefer my hotrods to look like something from 28-32, but no one can take away from what you are doing. Keep up the good work.

I think it will be cool, and it intrigued me enough to find the attached pic.Apparently bugs were allowed at the track back in the day using front engine technology.Whoda thunk?Give the guy all the credit he deserves,at least he is in the shop building something, and not trolling on the internet all day *****ing about what other people are building.

The file was too large to upload, and I have no idea how to resize pics.

    Most chemically altered? Yes...

  7. Had to edit I misread the post. DOH.

Used to be a hemi powered bug that ran in the NW back about the time that they outlawed the 426. I never got a ride in it damnit, but I'll bet it was a handfull.

I think the problem with tradition is that if it didn't show up in someone's book it isn't traditional. We should all try and remember that there was a lot more going on "back in the day" than what happened in our neighborhood or in someones book.

And as has been said a lot of lighter european bodies were showing up as g***ers and altereds. They probably weren't as common as say a HenryJ or a Willys or as popular but they were tearing it up never the less.

That said Z lookin forward to hookin' up at MOKAN bro. We're racin' right?

which begs the question, what will the vwtrends folks think when they see it at the stop light? my guess is that they'll hate it too! ;)

you could pro'lly win them back if you could get the chevy engine to knock, and fill the cab with exhaust.

well ****in said my friend. i like ya Zman but right now i want to kick you in the balls for being and ignoramous... i know your just trying to start **** for your own personal entertainment. i just don't understand why you feel the need??? if you want drama you can go rent DVDs of the Jerry Springer show at Blockbuster. :p

at any rate i dig the car and i can't wait to see it completed. it is OH SO 60s cool for sure. just about every issue of Hot Rod from the early 60s had something on VWs. alot of them with V8s and even more with beefed up stock motors. they even did tech article on VW 4 bangers. so get over your ****ing selves (i'm not JUST talking to you Zman). it's no different than a Fiat, Anglia or anything else they were building and racing in the early 60s hot rodding and drag racing circles. i think some people just hate because they are hateful people and others just hate because they are ignorant but mostly i think some people hate VWs because they have such a huge following all their own. maybe you feel threatened by that fact. i honestly don't know but why do we need to start all this drama ever God Damned time somebody posts something that does'nt fit your cookie cutter (and often completely inaccurate) idea of what "traditional" is.

i'm pretty sure most of us are adults here. why in the hell can we not act like it and show a little respect and restraint. could we PLEASE just drop the drama and if we don't like something just keep it to ourselves or just bash it with our buddies in private... unless of course it is some third rate hack ****ing up and otherwise solid and valuable old car. then you have my permission to bash them in the skull with a pry bar and verbaly abuse them all you want on any forum you can get on... you know, because you needed my permission to do that :D ... LOL oh the drama some days around here...

I like it. Keep posting your progress. It's no different than any sports car or British import that was used for drag racing in the late 50's and early 60's.

  17. Any more progress?

I'm sitting here trying to heal three f***ing herniated discs (axial herniations, they tell me), and can't hardly lift a coffee cup.

Living vicariously is all I'm getting; so post pics of every bead you weld!

Seriously, it looks like it'll kick ***.

Really nice work, man. Looks traditional enough for me. What's the temp in the garage in Feb? Really dig the raked stovepipe!
