straight axle fronts

I have a chance to get a couple of truck straight axle fronts.they are 8 lugs does anyone know if they are worth picking up? Will they have any date stamps on them.

 

If someone needs it, otherwise there a bit overkill for a gasser/ roadster set up, most guys go for the 1/2 ton stuff.

 

I was thinking the same thing but can the 8 lug be changed to a 5 or 6?

 

if its a 52 back ford the backing plates are used for buick drum conversions.

 

the 8 lug axles are alot thicker and heavier, but im sure it could be coverted to disc brakes or like k9 said cool drums.
