What do you use to put the holes in straight axles? Plasma(do not have one), torch, Big *** drill bit, 12 gauge shotgun with slugs ?
you can do it with a big-*** drill 7/8" or 1" and a big-*** drill press, but they come out much nicer with a mill. do you got any machinest buddy's? that's who I mooch off of for **** like this.
Drill em half way through on the press then flip the axle over and use the pilot hole to index it. Use lots of lube.
I had a guy do my axle on a mill. He did big in the middle out to smaller on the ends. Looks sweet. It would take a big drill press!

Didn't Roothawg or someone do a post about using a hole saw? It was a long time ago, but whoever it was just used a regular ol' hole saw and a hand held drill too, I think.
A regular hole saw will work. Just run it slow, and use lots of coolant. Of course,a Carbide tipped hole saw would last longer.
