I am building a '34 truck and I am looking for a little direction on what front end to use. I would like to run a disk brake kit from speedway so I dont have to do anything but bolt it on. I have found a '36 complete axle for pretty cheap but are the '37 to '48 axles the better choice. I am unsure of the differences in the spindles and other components. Some input would be helpfull.
The 33-36 axle would be a better choice if you are going to run split wishbones. The 37 and up axles are short from the wishbone mount to the spindle and tire rubbing is a common problem. All axles from 28-48 have the same diameter kingpins but the length and style changes. The kit that you are speaking of will fit any axle in those years.
If you are going to run disc brakes, you need to use 37-48 spindles. Those spindles will work on the earlier axle.
Yep, grab that 36 axle, much better, especially in tire to wishbone clearance when turning the wheel sharply. They are also easier to find the correct width spring as everybody makes them for the earlier ones but few make them for the later versions. Don
Thanks for the quick feedback. I am going to look at a '36 and a '46 and the price is pretty cheap for either one.
