Was wondering what other guys are running on their straight eights. My 52 buick special needs a new tailpipe/muffler. I have heard a few straight pipes and was surprised at how well and tame they sounded. I currently have the stock 40 inch muffler and i cant hear it running. What about the old cheap thrush, cherrybomb and dynomax tube gl*** packs??

I run single exhaust with a cherry bomb style muffler sounds good with a nice snappy gurgle on down shifts. with a little rumble at idle not to loud but no where near as quiet as stock.

I liked the sound of a full length single pipe with no muffler for my straight eight Buicks.

i like the sound of straight pipes, but porters sound very nice if you want to run a muffler. also split manifold with duals.

I have a 263 and a 320. I use a 2 1/2 ' single pipe of the 263. It does sound good and also is relatively quiet at idle.

So i did a 2 inch single straight pipe. Did a car show this weekend and everyone was impressed with the sound and loudness for having no muffler. Its pretty tame at idle.

straight pipes!! I ran straight pipe on my 48 super with a 248cid. sounded great. and was surprisingly quiet for having no mufflers. go straight pipe and you will be happy with the sound. nothing smaller than 2" pipe
