Years ago i bought this 430 lincoln MRL from Uncle Scoby for Gasserkits Hot Rod, well long story short we have gone from a glass 34 body to a 29 roadster to a 30 highboy. we are done with the mock up stages, so yesterday we torn down the 430.He had told me when i bought it it was a recent rebuild and guess what, was he ever right! Monster engine, still has honing marks in the clyinders, bearing are new and std. rings new pistons std., beautiful engine. Now to the point, the cam has had the original markings "x"ed out with B.B. SPEC. S S S or 5 5 5 stamped in, it is a solid lifter engine but would like to know what the cam is.
Most likely its a factory cam core thats been reground. Many cam grinders offer this service so hopefully someone here might recognize the numbers you are posting. I built many MEL motors, my brother still has one of the rare "Super Marauder " tri power 430's from 1958, we got cams from Isky, who used to offer regrinding too. Not sure if they do anymore. Those motors with their 3 inch tall intake ports (like a high riser 427) can make big power with good camming. Good luck with your build!
In addition to those of us in small shops doing regrinds, most of the 'big guys' still do them too. If you are unable to find documentation for the stamped numbers and if you really need/want to know what you have then you will have to take/send the cam to someone who has a CamDoctor or similar setup. We charge $25 for the service unless there is a regrind involved. Ask around your local area to see if someone has the equipment so you are not paying for alot of freight. .
These guys still race one http://www.gizzlehopper.com and there Hamb members and can tell you what you want to know on the big motor. Good luck!
Delta Cams in Tacoma did mine. They will take any cam you have and put it in their machine, then tell you what the specs are. They reground mine to reduce the lift as I was running a different ratio rocker.
